Sport for toddlers – a fad or a necessity?
I often hear that parents enrolled very young children of sports activities. Sometimes it comes to babies younger than 6 months. On the other hand, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine warns of the constant increase in sports injuries of the knee and the elbow in children.
Their general attitude is that children are starting with sports too early!
When parents ask themselves what is best for their toddlers, I believe that the solution in common sense!
Sport for toddlers, how pride that sounds!
And indeed, you must have felt pride in the voice of parents who tells you that their three-month little girl practicing swimming. By the third year, it is possible to enroll toddlers in a variety of disputes, through swimming and remedial- gymnastics to athletics, football, basketball, and rugby. We are offered a growing number of little school for sports and DVD with exercises for toddlers.
However, besides the proud that your child adopts healthy lifestyle habits from the early age, what sport for toddlers actually offers to your children and you?
Sport for toddlers as the time you spend together
Most of the sports activities of children implies the presence of a parent or guardian. On the one hand, the kids are too small to make them feel good during separation, and on the other, working with them is little difficult, so the coach need the parental assistance.
For practicing the team sports, it is essential that kids accept separation. Before that, they need to be well acquainted with the environment and other toddlers. Sociologically speaking, only from the third year kids are ripe for real interaction, until then they just play side by side.
So, the little school of the sport can be a great way to socialize and the same time accommodation exercises (hand-eye connection) and coordination while you spent the quality time together. But, you can spent equally quality time together at the nearby park or playground. Almost all corrective exercises from the sport for toddlers schools, you can practice by yourself!
These are the 3 the most popular exercises from the school of sport for toddlers!
Walking on the kid’s balance beam
This is an exercise that enhances the sense of balance and is performed with the assistance of adults. If you do not have a balance beam in your backyard you can play a similar game on the playground. If you find it difficult to do practice on the playground with a lot of kids, your toddler can walk on the curb and holding your hand. This enhances the sense of balance, and psychologists believe that in this way a child develops confidence in yourself and your abilities.
Crawling through the tunnel
Exercise of crawling through the tunnel is available at the playgrounds and even more, a toddler can play it on the backyard! In that case, you will need children’s tunnels toy. Moving through them in the forwards or backward toddlers develop balance and sense of direction which helps them to overcome the fear of entering the tunnel.
Throwing the balls
The toddlers are too small for catching so we are practicing throwing the balls. The balls have different structures smooth, rough or prickly (pretentiously called sensory-motor equipment). In this way, they practice hand-eye coordination and built a strong neuro-motor connection.
Singing and dancing
For toddlers are suitable all kinds of singing, accompanied by movement. Dance can be free and as such is a good way to get kids express themselves, and may be with pre-defined steps. This is a great way for parents to have fun, relax and at the same easily make toddler tired. Why is it important? After physical activity children sleep better, and we, parents, need a break, too!
The conventional wisdom is that the baby will faster and easier learn to swim than the elder kid. Fear of water is acquired fear and it is the most intensive at the age of two.
Some children that age scream at the mention of the shower, and bathing is like a nightmare (about overcoming groundless crying I already wrote). Because this reasons parents early take their babies at swimming. It has been shown that babies who love the water feel relaxed during swimming and the after. It is important to bear in mind that the water temperature in the pool should be warmer than in pool for adults because babies don’t move enough so care should be taken to avoid hypothermia. Staying in the water contributes to the development of all muscle groups, not burden the joints, and when children overcome the fear of water can enjoy discovering the possibilities of moving the body through the water. The most important thing is that the child should not be left without adults supervision for a second! That way, swimming may be the great way for family relaxation.
All in all, about sports for toddlers think like one of the ways to participate in the growing up of your child. Extensive research shows that there is no noticeable difference in achieving significant sports results in children who started training before the age of three.
If that’s what you want – go ahead. Enjoy! If for any reason you have difficulty in organization sport for toddlers, remember that the thematic playgrounds are excellent replacement. It’s okay for toddlers to be children and grow up playing.
